'Easter eggs' are on the Internet all year long

Internet

Easter eggs ? also known as undocumented features? are all over the Internet. All you have to do is figure out the secret that'll let you access them. And lucky for you, we've rounded up some of our favorites.

Do the YouTube shake!
Remember the Harlem Shake? It was trendy about fifty Internet years ago. And even the folks at YouTube got in on the craze. If you enter "do the harlem shake" into the Search box, you'll find that the entire YouTube page suddenly starts dancing.

The ratings go to eleven
IMDb, the Internet Movie Database, gets into the spirit of the movie "This Is Spinal Tap" by displaying the flick's rating out of a possible eleven stars, rather than the traditional ten.

Let me calculate that for you
The calculator feature built into Google Search has all sorts of little Easter eggs. It accepts measurements in "donkeypower" (one donkey power is equivalent to 250.033167 watts, in case you're wondering) and other uncommon units, it knows that the "answer to life the universe and everything" is 42, and it will even tell you that "the loneliest number" is one.

Oh, and if you happen to type out the Batman Function (also known as the Batman Curve), Google will actually graph it out for you.

One does not simply walk into Google Maps
If you try to get walking directions from the Shire to Mordor on Google Maps, you'll see a little warning: "Use caution ? One does not simply walk into Mordor." Attempting to get from China to Japan with Maps guidance will mean you have to "Jet ski across the Pacific Ocean" at one point.

Lucky ducky!
An archive of Google Doodles ? redesigned versions of the Google homepage logo ? can be accessed right from the main Google page. Just click the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button without entering a Search query.

Pv zk bschk pv zk!
Type the following wall of text into Google Translate, set it to convert things from English to some other language, and hit the little listen button:

pv zk bschk pv zk pv bschk zk pv zk bschk pv zk pv bschk zk bschk pv bschk bschk pv bschk kkkkkkkkkk bschk bschk bschk pv zk bschk pv zk pv bschk zk pv zk bschk pv zk pv bschk zk bschk pv bschk bschk pv kkkkkkkkkk bschk bschk bschk pv zk bschk pv zk pv bschk zk pv zk bschk pv zk pv bschk zk bschk pv bschk bschk pv kkkkkkkkkk bschk bschk bschk

Hello, virtual beatbox!

Do a ... woah! I'm dizzy now!
Typing "do a barrel roll" into Google Search will make the entire page spin. Don't try this one if you're already feeling queasy.

BuzzFeed

BuzzFeed

Up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right-B-A
The Konami code, one of the most popular cheat code's around, works on some of your favorite websites. For example, if you visit our friends at BuzzFeed and tap out the familiar up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right-B-A sequence, you'll find that the whole site changes to a Justin Bieber theme.

Employee appreciation
If you click on the little whitespace below the copyright notice on Amazon's site directory, you'll see a hidden page on which Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos expresses his gratitude to an employee.

Google ain't the only place with Easter eggs!
Typing "to be or not to be," "how much wood would a woodchuk chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood" and similar queries into knowledge engine Wolfram Alpha will lead to appropriately cheeky answers.
