Kevin Garnett has been a great player for years, but he did not deserve to be named a starter for the Eastern Conference in the 2013 NBA All-Star Game.
New York Knicks center Tyson Chandler did.
While LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony were named starters in the frontcourt for the East this season, voters got it wrong placing Garnett over Chandler.
Garnett has averaged 14.6 points, 7.0 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in nearly 30 minutes per game this season. He hasn't averaged 7.0 rebounds or fewer in a season since his rookie campaign. In the Boston Celtics' 90-78 loss to the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday, he managed just four boards.?
It's telling that Garnett received the fewest votes among all starters (553,222 via Bleacher Report). Frankly, he didn't deserve to make the starting squad altogether.

Chandler's impact for the Knicks this season goes beyond his stats. He has averaged 10.9 rebounds and 1.0 blocks, but anyone who has watched him in the first half knows his man-to-man defense is what separates him from most post players in the East. He has also posted 12 or more rebounds in seven straight games.
The Knicks have gotten off to a great start this season and it's not just because of Anthony. They've allowed 96.8 points per contest (13th in the league), and Chandler has been the central force protecting the paint.
And if you are a fan of Player Efficiency Rating, Chandler has posted a PER of 21.5 this season, 18th among all players in the NBA (Garnett has registered a PER of 18.7).?
What Garnett has been able to do at 36 years of age has been remarkable, but the fact of the matter is, he didn't deserve to make the East's starting squad this season.
This is one of his 15 career All-Star selections that wasn't warranted.
